- Backend Architecture: Build performant RESTful & GraphQL APIs, microservices, and database models using Node.js, TypeScript, or Python.
- Database Management: Design and optimize SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) databases for query speed and data consistency.
- DevOps & Infrastructure: Participate in CI/CD pipeline maintenance, containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud infrastructure management (AWS/GCP).
- System Performance: Monitor application performance, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure high uptime across critical shopping workflows.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 4+ years of professional full-stack software development experience.
- Frontend Stack: Mastery of JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, React/Next.js, HTML5, and modern styling techniques.
- Backend Stack: Strong expertise in Node.js (Express/NestJS) or Python (Django/FastAPI) building distributed web applications.
- Databases: Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and key-value caches (Redis).
- Architecture: Solid understanding of microservices, serverless architecture, message queues (RabbitMQ/Kafka), and REST/GraphQL API design.
- Methodologies: Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams with strict code quality practices, automated testing (Jest, Cypress), and continuous delivery.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in high-traffic e-commerce operations, payment gateway integrations (Stripe, PayPal), or headless commerce architectures.
- Knowledge of cloud architecture (AWS Lambda, ECS, S3, CloudFront).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Terraform).
What We Offer
- Competitive Salary: £60,000 - £85,000 per annum depending on experience.
- Work-Life Balance: Hybrid work options (2 days Manchester office, 3 days work-from-home).
- Career Acceleration: Clear progression paths, leadership opportunities, and annual skill development budgets.
- Comprehensive Benefits: Private healthcare cover, enhanced pension match, stock options, and 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
