About the Role
We are looking for a passionate Frontend Developer to join a fast-growing, innovative tech team at a leading e-commerce firm based in Manchester. In this role, you will be responsible for creating intuitive, responsive, and visually compelling web interfaces that elevate the digital shopping experience for millions of customers.
Working in a collaborative, agile environment, you will partner closely with UI/UX designers, product managers, and backend engineers to translate requirements and design concepts into clean, high-performance, maintainable code.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop & Maintain User Interfaces: Build interactive, mobile-first web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, or Astro), TypeScript, and HTML5/CSS3.
- Optimize Performance: Ensure web applications are optimized for maximum speed, scalability, accessibility (WCAG standards), and cross-browser compatibility.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with UX/UI designers to craft seamless component libraries and implement design systems.
- Integrate APIs: Work with backend teams to integrate RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints for real-time e-commerce transaction workflows.
- Quality & Testing: Write clean, modular, unit-tested code and participate in peer code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years of professional software engineering experience specializing in frontend web development.
- Core Technologies: Proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3/Sass/Tailwind CSS.
- Frameworks: Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js, Vue, or Astro).
- Tooling: Familiarity with modern build tools (Vite, Webpack, npm/pnpm), Git version control, and CI/CD workflows.
- Performance & SEO: Strong understanding of web performance optimization techniques, Core Web Vitals, and responsive web design techniques.
- Problem Solving: Passion for creating smooth user experiences, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in e-commerce platforms (Shopify, Magento, or Custom Headless Commerce).
- Experience with state management and component-driven architecture (Storybook).
- Familiarity with web analytics and A/B testing platforms.
